Drug intelligence / Profile preview
US Biologic is developing an oral anti-tick vaccine using its proprietary OrisBio platform, which utilizes *Bacillus subtilis* spores as a delivery vehicle for universal tick antigens. Developed in partnership with the USDA Agricultural Research Service, the vaccine is designed to induce an immune response in host animals against conserved tick proteins. When ticks feed on vaccinated animals, the ingested antibodies kill or impair the ticks, effectively reducing tick populations and interrupting the transmission cycle of various tick-borne diseases. The OrisBio platform employs heat-stable, non-GMO spores that survive the gastrointestinal environment and provide intrinsic molecular adjuvantization, allowing for needle-free administration to wildlife or livestock without the need for refrigeration.
