Oral Rehydration Salt Powder (III)

Oral Rehydration Salt Powder (III), marketed under the brand name Baiyansu®, is an approved oral rehydration formulation developed and manufactured by Anhui Jiuhua Huayuan Pharmaceutical. It is a powder formulation containing a specific balance of electrolytes (sodium, potassium, and chloride) and glucose. The product is indicated for the prevention and treatment of mild to moderate dehydration resulting from acute diarrhea and for the replacement of lost fluids and electrolytes. Its mechanism of action relies on the sodium-glucose cotransport system in the small intestine, where glucose facilitates the absorption of sodium and water, thereby restoring fluid and electrolyte balance. This low-osmolarity formulation (245 mOsm/L) is designed to reduce stool output and the need for intravenous fluids compared to older ORS formulations.
