Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Oraqix is a needle-free, subgingival local anesthetic gel composed of a eutectic mixture of lidocaine and prilocaine (2.5%/2.5%). It is specifically indicated for use in adults requiring localized anesthesia in periodontal pockets during scaling and/or root planing procedures. The product features a unique thermosetting delivery system, existing as a low-viscosity liquid at room temperature and transforming into a gel at body temperature to ensure retention within the periodontal pocket. Its mechanism of action involves the reversible blockade of voltage-gated sodium channels in the neuronal membrane, which prevents the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses, thereby providing effective analgesia without the need for injections.
