Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This undisclosed small molecule drug candidate is being developed by Organovo for the treatment of Crohn's disease and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The drug's biological target was identified and validated using Organovo's proprietary 3D human tissue models, which aim to recapitulate the complex architecture and microenvironment of the diseased intestine. As of 2023, the program is in the preclinical stage, with medicinal chemistry efforts underway to optimize the lead compound. Organovo expects to file an Investigational New Drug (IND) application for this candidate by the end of 2025. This program is distinct from the company's other IBD candidate, FXR314, which is an FXR agonist.
