Combizym is a combination digestive enzyme preparation containing fungal enzymes derived from *Aspergillus oryzae* (oryz-aspergillus enzymes) and porcine-derived pancreatin. It is utilized as an enzyme replacement therapy to manage pancreatic exocrine insufficiency (PEI) and various malabsorptive or dyspeptic conditions. The fungal component includes proteases, amylases, and cellulases that are active in the acidic environment of the stomach, while the pancreatin component (containing lipase, amylase, and protease) is typically formulated to act in the alkaline environment of the small intestine. Together, these enzymes facilitate the hydrolysis of dietary fats, proteins, and carbohydrates, thereby improving digestion and nutrient absorption in patients with impaired endogenous enzyme production.
