OSU-2131 is an investigational peptide vaccine developed by the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center for the prevention of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection and associated malignancies, such as Post-Transplant Lymphoproliferative Disorder (PTLD). The vaccine is composed of a synthetic peptide (RAKFKQLL) derived from the EBV BZLF1 protein, which is complexed with recombinant human heat shock cognate 70 (rh-Hsc70). It is administered in conjunction with the QS-21 (Stimulon) saponin adjuvant to enhance the immune response. OSU-2131 is designed to elicit a T-cell mediated immune response against EBV, particularly in high-risk populations such as patients with end-stage renal disease awaiting solid organ transplantation who are at increased risk for EBV-related complications due to subsequent immunosuppression therapy.
