This is a combination regimen consisting of three drugs: oxaliplatin, capecitabine, and panitumumab. Oxaliplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that causes DNA crosslinking and inhibits DNA synthesis. Capecitabine is an oral prodrug converted to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), which inhibits thymidylate synthase and disrupts DNA synthesis in rapidly dividing cells. Panitumumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), blocking ligand-induced activation of EGFR signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation and survival. This combination has been studied as first-line therapy for metastatic colorectal cancer, particularly in patients with RAS wild-type tumors[1][3][6]. The regimen leverages the cytotoxic effects of chemotherapy with targeted inhibition of EGFR to improve outcomes in selected patient populations.
