Oxaliplatin + paclitaxel is a combination of two chemotherapeutic agents used in the treatment of various cancers. Oxaliplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapy drug that exerts its antitumor effects primarily by forming DNA crosslinks, leading to inhibition of DNA replication and transcription, ultimately resulting in cell death. It also binds to mitochondrial DNA and disrupts mitochondrial function, contributing to cytotoxicity[3][6]. Paclitaxel is a microtubule-stabilizing agent that prevents the disassembly of microtubules during cell division, causing mitotic arrest and apoptosis in cancer cells[1][4][6]. This combination may be used off-label or within clinical trials for certain solid tumors where synergistic effects are desired.
