oxandrolone + propranolol

Oxandrolone + propranolol is a combination therapy of two small molecule drugs—oxandrolone, an anabolic steroid and synthetic testosterone analog, and propranolol, a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist (beta-blocker). This combination has been studied primarily in pediatric patients with severe burns. Oxandrolone promotes protein synthesis and lean body mass accretion to counteract muscle wasting, while propranolol reduces cardiac work and resting energy expenditure by blocking the effects of elevated catecholamines after burn injury. Together, these agents have demonstrated synergistic benefits in attenuating burn-induced growth arrest, accelerating muscle recovery, increasing growth rate, improving lean body mass accrual, enhancing muscle strength and power during rehabilitative exercise training programs in severely burned children[1][2][4][6][7]. The combination does not alter the pharmacokinetics or plasma concentrations of either drug when coadministered[5].
