This is a combination of oxcarbazepine, an established anticonvulsant, and padsevonil, a novel antiseizure medication candidate. Padsevonil is a first-in-class drug with dual mechanism of action that interacts with both synaptic vesicle protein 2 (SV2) and GABA-A receptors. Oxcarbazepine is a voltage-sensitive sodium channel blocker. The combination has been studied to evaluate pharmacokinetic interactions, as oxcarbazepine is a CYP3A4 inducer and padsevonil's metabolism is primarily mediated by CYP3A4.
