oxycodone + ibuprofen

**Oxycodone + ibuprofen** is an oral fixed-dose analgesic combination formerly marketed in the United States as **Combunox**. Each immediate-release tablet contained oxycodone hydrochloride 5 mg, a semisynthetic opioid analgesic, and ibuprofen 400 mg, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Oxycodone produces centrally mediated analgesia primarily through agonism of the mu-type opioid receptor, while ibuprofen reversibly inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes involved in prostaglandin synthesis, reducing peripheral pain and inflammation. It was approved for short-term management of acute, moderate-to-severe pain for no more than 7 days, including postoperative pain, but has been discontinued in the United States.
