Overview

**Oxycodone + naltrexone** is a non-specific name encompassing several oral opioid analgesic combination products and development programs that pair oxycodone, a mu-type opioid receptor agonist, with naltrexone, an opioid receptor antagonist. In abuse-deterrent capsule formulations such as Pfizer's extended-release ALO-02/Troxyca ER and Elite's immediate-release SequestOx, naltrexone is sequestered during intact oral use while oxycodone provides analgesia; crushing or otherwise tampering with the formulation releases naltrexone, intended to antagonize opioid effects and reduce abuse potential. Other versions, including Oxytrex/PTI-801, used ultra-low-dose naltrexone with oxycodone and were investigated for analgesia, opioid tolerance, dependence, and abuse-related effects.
