Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ozone + corticosteroids is an intra-articular combination therapy consisting of medical-grade ozone gas and a corticosteroid anti-inflammatory agent. This combination is primarily investigated for the treatment of pain associated with knee osteoarthritis. Ozone acts by improving cellular oxygenation and modulating the inflammatory environment through the generation of reactive oxygen species that reduce proinflammatory cytokine levels. The corticosteroid component provides immediate and potent anti-inflammatory effects within the joint space. A clinical trial conducted by Tanta University (NCT05837494) compared this combination to plasma-rich in growth factors (PRGF) for pain relief in patients with knee osteoarthritis.
