Drug intelligence / Profile preview
P&S Liquid is a topical dermatological treatment used to manage hyperkeratotic and inflammatory scalp conditions, including dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, and scalp psoriasis. Originally developed by Baker Cummins Dermatologicals and currently owned by BioZone Pharmaceuticals, the product's primary active ingredient is phenol, which is formulated in a mineral oil base. Phenol functions as a keratolytic agent by denaturing and coagulating skin proteins, which facilitates the softening and subsequent shedding of dry flakes, scales, and crusts from the scalp. Additionally, phenol provides mild antimicrobial properties. The product is typically applied to the scalp as an overnight treatment, often under a shower cap, to maximize the penetration and efficacy of the keratolytic action before being washed off the following morning.
