Overview

P-(2'-Iodo-5'-Thenoyl)Hydrotropic Acid is a synthetic small molecule and an iodinated analog of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug suprofen. It acts as a potent inhibitor of prostaglandin G/H synthase 1 (also known as cyclooxygenase 1 or COX1), the enzyme responsible for converting arachidonic acid to prostaglandins, which are mediators of inflammation and pain. The compound has been studied primarily as an experimental probe in structural biology and drug discovery, particularly for its binding interactions with COX1. It is not approved for clinical use and remains an experimental agent[1][2][7].
