P-IL-2 + anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody is an investigational combination immunotherapy being developed by Zhejiang University for the treatment of advanced solid tumors. The combination consists of P-IL-2, a novel cell-based therapy where Interleukin-2 (IL-2) is coupled to platelets, and an anti-PD-1 monoclonal antibody. P-IL-2 is designed to leverage the natural tumor-homing and activation properties of platelets to deliver IL-2 directly to the tumor microenvironment, potentially enhancing anti-tumor efficacy while reducing the systemic toxicities (such as vascular leak syndrome) associated with high-dose IL-2. The anti-PD-1 antibody acts as a checkpoint inhibitor, blocking the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway to restore T-cell mediated anti-tumor immunity. This combination is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial for various advanced malignancies, including esophageal, bladder, liver, ovarian, and small cell lung cancers.
