Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The combination of P16_37-63 peptide and Montanide ISA-51 VG is an investigational therapeutic cancer vaccine. The P16_37-63 peptide is derived from the cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p16(INK4a), a protein that is overexpressed in HPV-associated cancers but minimally expressed in normal tissues, making it a promising tumor-specific antigen. Montanide ISA-51 VG acts as an immunologic adjuvant to enhance immune responses. This combination has been evaluated in phase 1/2 clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity, showing induction of both cellular (CD4+ and CD8+ T cell) and humoral (antibody) immune responses without severe toxicities. The primary indication under investigation is HPV-associated cancers, including cervical, vulvar, vaginal, penile, anal cancers, and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma[1][2][3][4][5][8].
