Overview

This combination therapy is an investigational immunotherapy regimen developed by Inge Marie Svane for the treatment of p53-positive, hormone receptor-positive (ER+/PGR+) metastatic breast cancer. The core component is an autologous dendritic cell vaccine, where a patient's own dendritic cells are harvested and pulsed with peptides derived from the p53 tumor suppressor protein. This vaccine is designed to stimulate a T-cell mediated immune response against cancer cells overexpressing p53. In clinical trial contexts (such as NCT00613210), the vaccine is administered alongside an aromatase inhibitor (such as exemestane, letrozole, or anastrozole) to address the hormonal drivers of the tumor, and immune adjuvants including interleukin-2 (IL-2) and thymosin alpha 1 (Zadaxin) to enhance the activation, expansion, and persistence of the induced anti-tumor immune cells.
