Overview

COF004 is a nanoparticle albumin-bound (nab) formulation of paclitaxel, an antineoplastic agent, developed by Lee's Pharmaceutical (ZKGZ Biotech). As a generic version of the reference drug Abraxane, it utilizes human albumin to transport paclitaxel, which improves the solubility of the hydrophobic drug and enhances its delivery to tumor tissues via albumin-mediated transcytosis. This formulation eliminates the need for solvents like Cremophor EL, thereby reducing the incidence of severe hypersensitivity reactions and allowing for shorter infusion times and higher dosing compared to traditional solvent-based paclitaxel. COF004 is currently in late-stage clinical development (Phase 3/Registration) for the treatment of various solid tumors, including breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, and pancreatic cancer.
