Overview

Paclitaxel + cisplatin + cyclophosphamide (PCC) is a combination chemotherapy regimen used primarily as first-line treatment for advanced ovarian carcinoma. Paclitaxel is a microtubule-stabilizing agent that inhibits cell division, cisplatin is a platinum-based DNA crosslinker causing apoptosis, and cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that interferes with DNA replication. Together, these agents act synergistically to induce cancer cell death. Clinical studies have shown this triplet regimen achieves high response rates and prolonged progression-free and overall survival in patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancer[2]. The combination has been evaluated in phase II trials, demonstrating median progression-free survival of 19 months and overall survival of 46 months[2].
