Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of paclitaxel, cisplatin, and pegfilgrastim. Paclitaxel is a microtubule-stabilizing agent that inhibits cell division by promoting the assembly and stabilization of microtubules, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic that forms DNA crosslinks, inhibiting DNA synthesis and function, ultimately triggering cell death. Pegfilgrastim is a long-acting form of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) that stimulates the production of neutrophils to reduce the risk of infection associated with chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. This combination has been used in various solid tumors such as advanced gastric cancer, non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), germ cell tumors, and endometrial cancer to enhance antitumor efficacy while managing hematologic toxicity[1][3][5][6].
