Overview
This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of paclitaxel, oxaliplatin, and fluorouracil (5-FU), sometimes administered with leucovorin. Paclitaxel is a taxane that stabilizes microtubules and inhibits cell division. Oxaliplatin is a platinum-based compound that forms DNA crosslinks, leading to apoptosis. Fluorouracil (5-FU) is an antimetabolite that inhibits thymidylate synthase and disrupts DNA synthesis. This combination has been studied primarily for the treatment of advanced or metastatic gastric cancer, including gastric signet ring cell carcinoma (GSRC). Clinical studies have shown improved response rates and survival compared to standard regimens in this setting[1][2][3][4]. The most common toxicities include neutropenia and peripheral neurotoxicity.
