Overview

This is a combination therapy consisting of paclitaxel (a taxane chemotherapy agent), pictilisib (a pan-phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase inhibitor), and trastuzumab (a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting HER2). The combination has been studied in clinical trials for patients with HER2-positive breast cancer. Paclitaxel works by stabilizing microtubules and preventing cell division, pictilisib inhibits the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway (which is associated with trastuzumab resistance), and trastuzumab targets the HER2 protein overexpressed in certain breast cancers. This triple combination aims to enhance antitumor activity and potentially overcome resistance mechanisms.
