A combination therapy consisting of paclitaxel, a microtubule-stabilizing chemotherapeutic agent, and talimogene laherparepvec (T-VEC), a genetically modified oncolytic herpes simplex virus type 1. T-VEC is engineered to selectively replicate in tumor cells, causing cell lysis, while also expressing human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) to enhance immune responses against the tumor. This combination is being investigated primarily for the treatment of triple-negative breast cancer, with the rationale that T-VEC may enhance the efficacy of conventional chemotherapy by recruiting the patient's immune system to attack cancer cells.
