Overview

Paclitaxel + trastuzumab is a combination therapy used primarily to treat HER2-positive breast cancer. Paclitaxel is a chemotherapy agent classified as a taxane that disrupts microtubule function, inhibiting cell division and leading to cancer cell death. Trastuzumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) on the surface of certain cancer cells, blocking signaling pathways that promote tumor growth and survival. This combination is commonly used in early-stage and metastatic HER2-positive breast cancers as adjuvant or neoadjuvant therapy. The regimen may be referred to as "TH" (Taxol/Herceptin), with paclitaxel administered intravenously weekly for 12 weeks alongside trastuzumab; after this period, trastuzumab alone may continue for up to one year[4][6][8][9].
