Paclitaxel liposome + carboplatin is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of paclitaxel formulated in liposomes and the platinum-based agent carboplatin. Paclitaxel, a microtubule-stabilizing agent, disrupts cell division by promoting tubulin polymerization and inhibiting depolymerization, leading to mitotic arrest and apoptosis. The liposomal formulation enhances drug delivery to tumor tissues while reducing systemic toxicity compared to conventional paclitaxel. Carboplatin is an alkylating-like agent that forms DNA crosslinks, inhibiting DNA synthesis and function, resulting in cell death. This combination is primarily used as first-line therapy for advanced ovarian cancer and has demonstrated improved efficacy with reduced non-hematologic toxicities compared to standard formulations[1][2][6].
