Paclitaxel micellar + carboplatin is a combination chemotherapeutic regimen comprising a micellar nanoparticle formulation of paclitaxel (pm-Pac) and the platinum compound carboplatin. Paclitaxel micellar (pm-Pac) utilizes polymeric micelles as a novel drug delivery system to enhance solubility, tumor targeting, and therapeutic efficacy, while reducing hypersensitivity and neurotoxicity compared to conventional paclitaxel formulations. Paclitaxel stabilizes microtubules, inhibiting their depolymerization, and thus blocks cell division. Carboplatin is a platinum-based DNA crosslinker, leading to apoptosis by preventing DNA replication and transcription. This combination is frequently used as first-line therapy for advanced cancers, such as ovarian, lung, and breast cancer. In recent trials, paclitaxel micellar plus carboplatin has demonstrated improved progression-free survival and tolerable toxicity profiles compared to conventional paclitaxel formulations, particularly in gynecologic and pulmonary malignancies[1][3][5].
