This combination therapy regimen consists of paclitaxel polymer micelles, gemcitabine, and anlotinib. Paclitaxel polymer micelles is a nanoparticle formulation of the taxane paclitaxel designed to improve solubility and reduce hypersensitivity reactions by avoiding Cremophor EL. Gemcitabine is a pyrimidine nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis. Anlotinib is a multi-targeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor that inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR 1-3), fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFR 1-4), platelet-derived growth factor receptors (PDGFR alpha and beta), and c-Kit. This combination is being investigated by Shanghai 6th People's Hospital as a second-line or later treatment for advanced soft tissue sarcomas to improve efficacy and reduce toxicity compared to standard chemotherapy.
