Overview

**Paclitaxel protein-bound (Abraxane)** is a nanoparticle albumin-bound formulation of the chemotherapy drug paclitaxel. It works by stabilizing microtubules and inhibiting their disassembly, thereby preventing cell division and inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. It is primarily used to treat metastatic breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and advanced pancreatic cancer (often in combination with gemcitabine)[4]. **Vandetanib (Caprelsa)** is an orally active small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor that targets multiple receptor tyrosine kinases involved in tumor growth and angiogenesis. Its main targets are the rearranged during transfection (RET) proto-oncogene, vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR-2), vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 3 (VEGFR-3), and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Vandetanib inhibits tumor proliferation and angiogenesis by blocking these pathways[1][3][5][6][8]. It is approved for the treatment of symptomatic or progressive medullary thyroid cancer that cannot be removed surgically or has metastasized[1].
