Overview

Paeoniflorin-6'-O-benzene sulfonate (CP-25) is a modified derivative of paeoniflorin, the main bioactive component of total glycosides of peony. CP-25 was developed to improve bioavailability and efficacy compared to its parent compound. It exhibits potent anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects, regulating immune cell function and inflammation-related pathways. CP-25 has shown promise in preclinical models for treating inflammatory and immune diseases such as arthritis and Sjögren's syndrome[3][4][5]. The drug is absorbed by fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) primarily via organic anion transporters OAT1/3[4].
