Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Palmitoylethanolamide + polydatin is a combination product comprised of palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), an endogenous fatty acid amide with anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects, and polydatin (PLD), a natural glucoside precursor to resveratrol. PEA modulates mast cell activation and inflammation, while polydatin provides antioxidant activity and inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression. The combination’s synergistic action results in reduced pain, inflammation, and oxidative stress, with demonstrated efficacy in conditions such as endometriosis-associated chronic pelvic pain, irritable bowel syndrome, and interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome. Mechanistically, the combination acts via mast cell inhibition, antioxidant effects, and downregulation of proinflammatory cytokines and angiogenic factors. It is typically formulated as a micronized oral dietary supplement and is not classified as a pharmaceutical drug.
