Panblok + MF59 is an investigational adjuvanted recombinant influenza vaccine developed by Sanofi Pasteur. It is designed to provide protection against the H7N9 avian influenza virus, which is considered a significant pandemic threat. The vaccine's active component, Panblok H7, is a full-length recombinant hemagglutinin (rHA) protein derived from the A/Guangdong/17SF003/2016 (H7N9) strain and produced using the expresSF+® insect cell line. To enhance the immune response, which is typically weak for H7 antigens, the vaccine is formulated with MF59, a squalene-based oil-in-water adjuvant. MF59 works by creating a local immunostimulatory environment that recruits and activates antigen-presenting cells. The vaccine has been evaluated in a Phase I/II clinical trial (NCT05608005) to assess its safety and immunogenicity in healthy adults.
