Pancrelipase is a pharmaceutical preparation consisting of a mixture of digestive enzymes, primarily lipase, amylase, and protease, typically derived from porcine pancreatic glands. It is the standard of care for enzyme replacement therapy in patients with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), which occurs when the pancreas fails to secrete sufficient enzymes for digestion, often due to cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, or surgical removal of the pancreas.
