Overview

Creon Forte is a high-strength formulation of Creon (pancrelipase), a pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT) containing a mixture of porcine-derived digestive enzymes, including lipases, proteases, and amylases. It is used to treat exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), a condition commonly associated with cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, pancreatectomy, and other gastrointestinal disorders. By supplementing or replacing endogenous pancreatic enzymes, Creon Forte facilitates the digestion and absorption of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates in the small intestine. In clinical research, such as studies conducted by Adelaide University, Creon Forte has been evaluated for its effects on postprandial glucose physiology, gastric emptying, and incretin hormone secretion (such as GLP-1 and GIP) in young people with cystic fibrosis and exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.
