ROTER Paracof is an over-the-counter (OTC) combination medication containing paracetamol (acetaminophen) and caffeine, marketed by the Dutch brand Roter (a subsidiary of Cooper Consumer Health). It is primarily used as an analgesic and antipyretic for the relief of mild to moderate pain, such as headache, muscle aches, and menstrual pain, as well as for reducing fever associated with the common cold or influenza. Paracetamol acts as a pain reliever and fever reducer, likely through the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system. Caffeine is included as an analgesic adjuvant to enhance the efficacy of paracetamol and provide a mild stimulant effect. Although the product is sometimes associated with cold and flu management (including the discomfort associated with coughing), it does not contain a direct antitussive agent.
