Overview

Paracetamol + chlorphenamine maleate is an over-the-counter (OTC) combination drug product developed by Abiogen. It combines paracetamol, a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic, with chlorphenamine maleate, a first-generation alkylamine antihistamine. Paracetamol exerts its effects primarily through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2) in the central nervous system, reducing prostaglandin synthesis to alleviate pain and fever. Chlorphenamine maleate acts as a competitive antagonist at the H1 histamine receptor, effectively reducing symptoms of allergic reactions and the common cold, such as sneezing, watery eyes, and runny nose. This combination is indicated for the symptomatic relief of pain and nasal congestion associated with the common cold and flu.
