Paracetamol + metamizole is a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic combination, used for the management of moderate to severe pain and fever. Paracetamol (also known as acetaminophen) acts primarily by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system, leading to reduced pain and fever. Metamizole (also known as dipyrone) is a pyrazolone derivative with potent analgesic, antipyretic, and spasmolytic properties; its mechanism involves inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis via cyclooxygenase blockade and possible effects on endogenous opioid systems. The combination may be used when monotherapy is insufficient or when additive/synergistic effects are desired, though evidence suggests no significant synergistic benefit over standard regimens[2]. Both drugs are available in oral and injectable forms individually; fixed-dose combinations may exist in some markets but are not globally standardized.
