Overview

Compound Paracetamol and Methylephedrine Oral Solution is a fixed-dose combination small-molecule drug formulated as an oral solution for pediatric use, primarily in China. It contains two active ingredients: paracetamol (acetaminophen), a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic that acts by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes to reduce fever and pain, and methylephedrine, a sympathomimetic agent that acts on alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors to relieve nasal congestion and bronchospasm. The drug is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of upper respiratory tract infections (URTI) and influenza in pediatric patients. It is currently being evaluated in large-scale multicenter observational cohort registry studies in China to assess its real-world safety and effectiveness compared to other compound pediatric cold medicines.
