Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Paracetamol + naproxen is a fixed-dose combination analgesic and anti-inflammatory medication. It combines paracetamol (acetaminophen), a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic that primarily acts on the central nervous system, with naproxen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes to reduce prostaglandin synthesis. This combination is intended to provide enhanced pain relief compared to either agent alone by utilizing complementary mechanisms of action. Haleon is developing an immediate-release tablet formulation (MFC-06285) for the treatment of pain and inflammation, currently undergoing pharmacokinetic and bioavailability studies to evaluate its performance relative to monotherapy comparators and the effect of food on absorption.
