Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Paracetamol + phenylpropanolamine + chlorpheniramine is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product manufactured by Chemidrug Industries Private Limited, a generic drug manufacturer based in Nepal. This small molecule formulation is indicated for the symptomatic relief of the common cold and upper respiratory tract symptoms. It combines the analgesic and antipyretic properties of paracetamol (acetaminophen), which acts by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system; the decongestant effects of phenylpropanolamine, a sympathomimetic amine that stimulates alpha-adrenergic receptors to reduce nasal mucosal swelling; and the antihistaminic action of chlorpheniramine, a first-generation H1 receptor antagonist that alleviates allergic manifestations such as sneezing, itching, and watery eyes. While phenylpropanolamine has been withdrawn in several Western markets due to safety concerns, it remains available in certain jurisdictions, including Nepal, for the management of multi-symptom respiratory conditions.
