Overview

Nastul Compuesto is a fixed-dose combination medication developed and marketed by Chemopharma, primarily indicated for the symptomatic relief of the common cold, influenza, and other upper respiratory tract infections. It integrates three active pharmaceutical ingredients: paracetamol (acetaminophen), which provides analgesic and antipyretic effects by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system; pseudoephedrine, a sympathomimetic amine that acts as a nasal decongestant by stimulating alpha-adrenergic receptors to produce vasoconstriction; and chlorphenamine (chlorpheniramine), a first-generation antihistamine that antagonizes H1 receptors to alleviate allergic-like symptoms such as sneezing, rhinorrhea, and itchy eyes. The product is widely used in the Chilean market as an 'antigripal' (anti-flu) treatment.
