Parecoxib + ropivacaine is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily for perioperative and postoperative pain management, especially in regional anesthesia techniques such as nerve blocks. Parecoxib is a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), typically administered by injection, that provides analgesic effects by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. Ropivacaine is an amide-type local anesthetic that blocks nerve impulse conduction by inhibiting sodium channels, resulting in loss of sensation and pain relief at the site of administration. When combined, parecoxib has been shown to prolong the duration of sensory and motor block produced by ropivacaine during procedures like brachial plexus blockade, leading to improved postoperative pain control compared to either agent alone[1][4][2]. This combination may be used as an adjunct in various surgical settings where enhanced regional anesthesia and extended analgesia are desired.
