paromomycin + domperidone

This is a combination of two drugs, paromomycin and domperidone. Paromomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic primarily used to treat acute and chronic intestinal amebiasis (a parasitic infection of the intestines) and as adjunctive therapy for hepatic coma. It works by inhibiting protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria and parasites, leading to their death[1][2][3]. Domperidone is a dopamine receptor antagonist that acts as a peristaltic stimulant and antiemetic agent. It increases gastrointestinal motility, relieves symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, bloating, and discomfort due to delayed gastric emptying or gastroparesis[5][6][8]. The combination could theoretically be used when both antimicrobial action against intestinal pathogens (paromomycin) and prokinetic/antiemetic effects (domperidone) are desired.
