Overview

Paroxetine + zolpidem is a combination of two pharmaceutical drugs used together, primarily studied for the treatment of primary insomnia. Paroxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant, while zolpidem is a non-benzodiazepine hypnotic agent that acts as an agonist at the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) A receptor complex. The combination has been shown to be more effective than zolpidem alone in improving sleep maintenance and reducing early morning awakenings in patients with primary insomnia. However, combining these agents can result in additive central nervous system depression and impairment of psychomotor skills[1][2].
