Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Pasiniazid** is an orally administered antituberculous molecular compound consisting of isoniazid and para-aminosalicylic acid in a 1:1 isoniazid p-aminosalicylate salt complex. It dissociates in the gastrointestinal tract to release its active moieties: isoniazid is activated in mycobacteria and inhibits InhA-dependent mycolic-acid synthesis, while para-aminosalicylic acid interferes with mycobacterial folate biosynthesis. Pasiniazid has been marketed for tuberculosis treatment in China and is being evaluated with rifapentine as a 28-day preventive-treatment regimen for latent tuberculosis infection.
