Patupilone + omeprazole

Patupilone + omeprazole is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used in clinical research settings. Patupilone (also known as epothilone B) is a novel microtubule-targeting cytotoxic agent with antitumor activity, primarily investigated for the treatment of cancers such as ovarian and pancreatic cancer. It acts by stabilizing microtubules, thereby inhibiting cell division and inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that decreases gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the Hydrogen/potassium ATPase enzyme system on gastric parietal cells; it is widely used to treat conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome[1][3][6]. In clinical studies, patupilone has been shown to decrease the absorption of omeprazole by approximately 20%, but no significant pharmacokinetic interaction requiring dose adjustment was observed[2]. This combination has been studied mainly to assess drug-drug interactions rather than for therapeutic synergy.
