Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PCV24 (low-dose 1) is a specific formulation of a 24-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine being developed by Shanghai Reinovax Biologics (also known as Shanghai Ruizhou Biotechnology) in collaboration with Changchun Ruizhou Biopharmaceutical. This formulation contains capsular polysaccharides from 24 Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 8, 9N, 9V, 10A, 11A, 12F, 14, 15B, 17F, 18C, 19A, 19F, 20, 22F, 23F, and 33F) conjugated to a carrier protein to enhance immunogenicity by inducing T-cell-dependent immune responses. Specifically, the 'low dose-1' version contains 4.0 μg of polysaccharide for serotypes 3, 6B, and 12F, and 2.0 μg for the remaining 21 serotypes, adsorbed on 0.125 mg of aluminum phosphate adjuvant. It is currently undergoing Phase 2 clinical evaluation in China for the prevention of pneumococcal disease in adults.
