Overview

The combination "pd-1 inhibitor + ICE" refers to the concurrent use of a programmed death 1 (PD-1) immune checkpoint inhibitor (such as pembrolizumab) with the chemotherapy regimen known as ICE—ifosfamide, carboplatin, and etoposide. This combination is primarily investigated for relapsed or refractory hematologic malignancies such as classical Hodgkin lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. The PD-1 inhibitor blocks the interaction between PD-1 on T cells and its ligands on tumor cells, thereby enhancing anti-tumor immune responses. The chemotherapy components act by damaging DNA in rapidly dividing cancer cells[3][6].
