Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PD01 + PD04 + AD05 is a combination active immunotherapy (vaccine) developed by AFFiRiS for the treatment of Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). The combination utilizes AFFiRiS's proprietary AFFITOME technology to target two key proteins associated with neurodegeneration: alpha-synuclein and amyloid-beta. PD01 and PD04 are AFFITOPE candidates designed to induce an immune response against pathological forms of alpha-synuclein (the primary component of Lewy bodies), while AD05 targets amyloid-beta (the primary component of amyloid plaques). By addressing both pathologies simultaneously, the combination aims to provide a more comprehensive therapeutic approach for DLB, where both protein aggregates are typically present. The individual components are short peptides that mimic the epitopes of the target proteins, formulated with an adjuvant to stimulate the production of specific antibodies. As of the latest reports, this combination is in the preclinical stage of development.
