PDX-03 (ketoprofen)

PDX-03 is a topical cataplasm (gel patch) formulation of ketoprofen developed by Hunan Jiudian Pharmaceutical. Ketoprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that acts by inhibiting the enzymes cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), thereby reducing the production of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. This specific formulation is designed for the localized treatment of pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, frozen shoulder, tenosynovitis, epicondylitis (tennis elbow), and muscle pain. The cataplasm delivery system allows for sustained release of the active ingredient directly to the affected area, providing localized analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects while minimizing systemic exposure and associated gastrointestinal side effects. PDX-03 received marketing approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China in 2023.
